LSOF: ” Everything has changed…”

Hello you good wonderful people:) I hope you day has started out well, and
I hope you had an amazing weekend filled with just so many surprising things:)

I was inspired from yesterday’s sermon to expound on what it means to be free. His message was, ” How to find God.”

It started with a message of repentence; the what and how of it all.
“Admitting our spiritual depravity.”
( Interestingly, no one ran for the hills; that I saw.) and it was just an amazing and enlightening experience from the beginning of praise and worship, to the message.
I literally felt like I was at a Passion conference.
This was the verses we studied;

Matthew 5:1-10
The Beatitudes
1Now when he saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him,
2and he began to teach them saying:

3″Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
5Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
6Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
7Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
9Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called sons of God.
10Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

I should also mention that God stopped me in the middle of writing this devotional to write my pastor a quick note. Which I didn’t think I would be giving to him because of my critical writing; God had other plans.
I saw him as I was getting into my car at church parking lot.

First of all, before I go on, I have to tell you that encouragement is a key thing in helping anyone know what it is to be free.
My pastor obviously knows he is, but I wanted to let him know that I knew God had spoke to his heart over his sabatical; I knew it, because oh goodness, I saw it. It was almost as if Jesus himself was up there giving a message.

I also told him in the note what I will tell you; when less of you is praying, when you pray for others needs, when you pray just in general for God’s will to be done, God’s hearts desire and not our own; your prayer life will change, get deeper and become more intimate with Jesus.
Prayer is a gift, but also a responsibility God gives us, and once He sees that we are actively praying, then He trust us with more, believe it or not He will show you a different and deeper way of praying then you knew before.
Its so exciting:)

If you notice, I have the song ” Finally Free” video by: Nichole Nordeman.
If you haven’t had a chance to watch it, I encourage you to, the lyrics just listening to her sing them, it will hit you so deeply.
Here are the words:

Finally Free
Nichole Nordeman

No chain is strong enough
No choice is wrong enough
No mountain high enough
that He can’t climb

No shadow dark enough
No night is black enough
No road is lost enough that
He can’t find

And if the Son has set us free
Then we must be, free indeed
Let the chains fall away,
starting today

Everything has changed
I’m finally free

No pain is deep enough
No heart could bleed enough
Nothing but Jesus’ love
can make a way

And if the Son has set us free
Then we must be, free indeed
Let the chains fall away,
starting today

Everything has changed
I’m finally free

As he continued to give the message, the thought occured to me, that people really defeat there joy of being free, because they fall back into old habits old ways; its more not because the old them is stronger than the new freedom in Christ, its because they don’t believe they have really been freed.

An example coming to mind; in the movie, ” Shawshank Redemption”, there was this old man who was released from prison.
He was so excited. He was walking around the city, and noticed his joy didn’t matter to other people, and his family, they didn’t want anything to do with him.
He later hung himself. He couldn’t deal with
his new life.

The thing to realize here is your freedom, is yours and people who understand it will celebrate it with you, but you have to make sure you know who to trust;
this world is out to get us, it stinks, but it is quite biblical.
So what I am saying is, you have to KNOW that you are free, you can’t wait to be convinced by the world standards. They will just call you nuts, lock you away, and throw away the key.

Bottom line, don’t be naive to believe everyone will want to know
you are free.

I am so excited about tonight; I will be starting my Disciple class, which you know someone has bugged me about doing for many years now.

I have to tell you though something interesting; I was sitting at church next to Debbie yesterday, and I remember her telling me how important it was to be in worship, not just there for the message. I used to be late for church so often.
Now, I can’t wait to be there; I love being there from the very first note of the song, to the end.
Its cool, because God has shown me that importance she was talking about;
and now with this class; I am excited, because I never got a chance to learn the word of God from the Old testament; and now I do.
I also can’t wait to see how much I will learn and bring back to share with you guys:)

I just have to say, ” Everything has changed, I am finally free.”

I am finally at a point in my life where I don’t wonder if I am good enough for God to use me, and I don’t feel like I should pray a certain way, or anything like that, He has let me be me.

He will let you be you too, just be real. Be who you are.
We are all beautiful in His eyes:)

Just believe you are free, Believe it with all of your heart. And live your life as such.

” He will reveal himself in His word.” and he will reveal who you are too.

What could matter more?

Be Blessed:)
